See Bussing 1998:388 [ref. 24179]. •Synonym of Agonostomus monticola (Bancroft 1834) -- (Thomson 1997:465 [ref. 23428], Grove & Lavenberg 1997:459 [ref. 24023], Harrison 2003:1077 [ref. 27016], Ferraris in Reis et al. 2003:655 [ref. 27061], Miller 2006:181 [ref. 28615]). •Synonym of Dajaus monticola (Bancroft 1834). Current status: Synonym of Dajaus monticola (Bancroft 1834). Mugilidae. Habitat: freshwater, brackish, marine.

Lectotype: CAS-SU 2890. Paralectotypes: BMNH 1895.5.27.178 [from Jordan] (1); CAS-SU 1695 + 2954 (now 2), 2890 (not found); USNM 47446 (1); ZMB 14060 [from Jordan] (1). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:64 [ref. 12291]. Paratypes: FMNH 46909 (2), CAS-SU 30975 (4, mixed with holotype). Type catalog: Böhlke 1953:64 [ref. 12291], Ibarra & Stewart 1987:59 [ref. 12367]. •Status uncertain -- (Thomson 1997:545 [ref. 23428] but types not examined). •Questionable a synonym of Mugil broussonnetii Valenciennes 1836 -- (Harrison & Senou 1999:2095 [ref. 24780]). •Species inquirenda in Family Mugilidae -- (Kottelat 2013:275 [ref. 32989]). Mugilidae. Habitat: marine.
